Cummings Electrical is seeking an experienced Network Infrastructure Technician for a traveling position supporting projects across multiple markets and locations. 

Our Network Services team provides structured cabling and fiber optic solutions for commercial, industrial, healthcare, mission critical, and other complex facilities. This position will install, terminate, splice, test, certify, and troubleshoot copper and fiber network infrastructure while maintaining Cummings' standards for safety, quality, and execution. 

Responsibilities

  • Install cable raceways and supports including conduit, cable/basket tray, sleeves, hooks, and underground pathways. 
  • Install, route, support, dress, and terminate structured cabling systems in commercial and industrial facilities. 
  • Install and terminate low-voltage control, communication, instrumentation, and multi-conductor cabling and associated field devices. 
  • Install and terminate Cat5 - Cat6A, patch panels, data jacks, and related copper cabling. 
  • Install, terminate, fusion splice, test, and troubleshoot single mode and multimode fiber cables. 
  • Perform mechanical, anaerobic, and fusion splice fiber terminations, including LC, SC, and ST connectors, pigtails, splice cassettes, and fiber enclosures. 
  • Test and certify copper and fiber systems using Fluke DSX, OTDR tester, or equivalent equipment. 
  • Build out IDF and MDF spaces including cabinets, racks, switches, patch panels, fiber enclosures, ladder rack, and cable management systems.  
  • Support device installation, point checks, and troubleshooting of network and low-voltage systems.  
  • Read drawings, risers, schematics, cable schedules, rack elevations, and specifications.  
  • Properly label and maintain test results, as-builts, and project documentation. 
  • Coordinate with project teams while meeting safety, quality, and project requirements. 
  • Travel and work overtime, nights, weekends, or alternate schedules as required. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-years of commercial structured cabling or network infrastructure experience. 
  • Minimum 2-years of fiber installation, termination, fusion splicing, testing, and troubleshooting experience. 3-5 years preferred. 
  • Certifications (BICSI, Corning/FOA, or similar) are a plus 
  • Experience with Cat5e-Cat6A cable, patch panels, network switches, data jacks, RJ45 connectors, and structured cabling systems. 
  • Experience with single mode and multimode fiber, including LC, SC, ST, APC, mechanical, anaerobic, and fusion terminations. 
  • Experience operating Fujikura, Sumitomo, or similar fusion splicing equipment. 
  • Experience using Fluke or similar certification equipment, OTDRs, optical loss testers, VFLs, power meters, and fiber inspection tools. 
  • Working knowledge of structured cabling practices and applicable ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NEC, etc. 
  • Ability to interpret test results, fiber loss limits, splice performance, and acceptance requirements. 
  • Ability to read telecom drawings, specs, schematics, and cable schedules.  
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot copper and fiber systems and determine corrective action. 
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, aerial lifts, cable installation equipment, and test equipment. 
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to meet company requirements. 
  • Ability to travel and work overtime or alternate schedules as required. 
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, with or without reasonable accommodation.
