Apprentice Electrician - Material Handler - TRAVEL

 

The Tool Technician position is responsible for managing the tool and equipment inventory, requisitioning stock and purging unused tools, ensuring efficient day-to-day operation and maintenance of tools and equipment. This person will also be responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

GENERAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Additional responsibilities may also be assigned)

  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, diagnosing mechanical, electrical or hydraulic problems to make necessary repairs 
  • Review inventory and assess tool needs 
  • Follow all workplace safety rules such as safe work practices and standard operating procedures 
  • Pretesting of hydraulic and electric tools and accessories for the purpose of proper form, fit and function 
  • The job involves trouble-shooting, tearing down, repairing, reassembling and calibrating all types of hand/power tools 
  • Forecasting and maintaining an adequate inventory of tools and equipment to repair or replace 
  • Knowledge of lifecycle for tools including but not limited to, Milwaukee, Dewalt and Greenlee 
  • Manage tool database and complete periodic audits of tools 
  • Check tools for safety decals and safe operating features and maintains an accurate schedule and record of maintenance. 
  • Assist in familiarizing and training on tool operation and maintenance 
  • Periodically review tool cost and efficiencies 
  • Maintain neat housekeeping of work area 
  • Demonstrate orientation toward excellent customer service by conducting daily activities, communications and interactions in a cooperative, positive and professional manner 
  • Fulfill other duties as needed

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in repairing and maintaining tools and/or equipment 
  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Ability to diagnose and successfully repair equipment or tools and plan a logical approach to troubleshooting and prioritizing workload 
  • Problem-solving skills and close attention to detail 
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude. 
  • Demonstrate ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations 
  • Must be a dependable team player with high energy and a strong commitment to quality output 
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision. 
  • Computer proficiency and excellent communication skills 
  • Ability to perform work during prolonged standing up to 8 hours; frequent bending, stooping, crouching and reaching 
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment as needed
  • Must have clean and valid driver's licence 

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to work in extreme conditions and a drug free environment 
  • Ability to work long hours and variable schedules on occasion, including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends, and occasionally work overtime as needed
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within the limits of the position. 
  • Required to perform other common operation duties suck as: sitting for long periods of time, hear, talk, use close vision, use distance vision, stand, kneel or crouch, use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, type and manipulate controls, and reaching, lifting or bending 
  • Required to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, push and pull up to 100 pounds 
  • Requires the ability to relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions: must partner with co-workers without exhibiting behavioral extremes 
  • Requires the performance of work activities including reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others: and respond appropriately to constructive feedback from supervisor
