The Service Project Manager will oversee, guide, and manage the work of contractors, vendors, suppliers and employees. Responsibilities include efficient coordination and planning, to ensure that the team provides consistent, high-quality, cost-effective, and timely deliverables and products for multiple projects. This person will ensure that workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for promoting environmental stewardship and a work culture focused on health and safety. This position will also work closely with the company’s management team in a decision-support capacity.

Responsibilities

The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Additional responsibilities may also be assigned. 

  • Maintain and foster contacts with facilities operations, owners, consultants, contractors, vendors and material suppliers
  • Act as a subject matter expert regarding some electrical engineering activities
  • Interact closely with internal teams to ensure that project needs and objectives are met
  • Lead or participate in project meetings and conference calls
  • Interpret plans, specifications, drawings, and documents related to engineering and construction
  • Coordinating meetings, scheduling updates, submitting deliverables and addressing outstanding 'open items' as requested by clients
  • Preparation of look-ahead documents and weekly/monthly progress reports
  • Reviewing and monitoring job costs versus budgets
  • Reporting to management team
  • Keeping emphasis on the client, develop an understanding of the client's culture, key people and processes
  • Provide guidance and direction for estimators during the estimation process
  • Manage and assist project layout and coordination
  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control programs  
  • Coordinate work with Purchasing to ensure that requested material is expedited and received as needed for the construction of a project
  • Resolve inter-group conflicts, project conflicts and delays as required to meet project construction goals
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project
  • Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops
  • Responsible for all financial reporting, tracking and projection of all labor, material, job expenses and changes for each project assigned
  • Responsible for all project financials including projections and billing
  • Maintain all submittal, drawing, correspondence, and change logs
  • Submit, review for added cost, file and log all RFI’s
  • Prepare, organize, and manage material buyouts
  • Schedule and track all material releases; coordinate with a Lead Technician as needed
  • Track major deliveries to jobsites
  • Actively assist project Superintendent (PS to Lead Technician) with all miscellaneous issues as necessary (Material, information, special items, constructability, etc)
  • Weekly jobsite visits and attend all jobsite meetings as required
  • Prepare all outgoing correspondence as needed
  • Organize and submit job closeout documentation (as-builts, O&M’s)

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Mainly office but may also include all other work environments as required: sit, stand, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and telephone. 
  • Work is generally performed in climate-controlled office environment. 
  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. 
  • Considerable time is spent at a desk using a computer terminal. 
  • May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment. 
  • Can be exposed to hazardous materials, loud noises and extreme heat/cold temperatures, if visiting job sites or other off-site events. 
  • Can be exposed to Heavy Equipment, slippery surfaces, uneven footing on the jobsite
  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light foot traffic).

PHYSICAL FUNCTION

  • Repeat the same mental activities. 
  • Ability to operate a keyboard at efficient speed and typical business office equipment, including computer hardware. 
  • Regularly required to talk and/or hear; use hands to operate objects, tools or controls (phone, computer, printer etc.); and reach with hands and arms. 
  • Work performed causes fatigue of eyes, fingers and other facilities because of continuous use of motor senses. 
  • Vision and hearing at or correctable to normal ranges. 
  • May be occasionally be asked to lift, stoop, kneel, and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands. 
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years or more years of progressively responsible experience in the electrical construction industry. Engineering or related field is preferred or previous work as Licensed Electrician/Supervisor
  • Must be capable of leading a team of up to 20 electricians
  • In depth understanding of electrical infrastructure
  • Experience with Electrical/Power Systems such as UPS, Switchgear, Generators.
  • Managing Projects for Electrical installation of Equipment for high profile projects is a plus
  • Customer Service Driven
  • Computer Savvy (Microsoft Suite, MS Project, etc.)
  • Solid Communicator – excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Monitor the performance and progress of staff, motivate, organize and encourage teamwork to ensure productivity targets are met
  • Knowledge and application of relevant safety requirements that apply to the specific work being done. Recognizes and mitigates safety hazards on the job. Observes rules and regulations to comply with personal and workplace safety standards
  • Works to create a hazard free, accident free environment
  • Establishes clear and realistic direction of organizational goals and employee roles and responsibilities
  • Maintains staff motivation and focus on goals and priorities
