  • Overview

    We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead a team in ensuring all human resource (HR) operations are carried out efficiently and effectively. The Human Resources Mnager develops and implements people-related services, policies and programs, and HR processes and metrics to ensure compliance and measure achievement of the organization's business goals. Oversees and manages all company Human Resources staff and drives Human Resources strategy and company culture in alignment with the Company's strategic plan. Helps to secure our long-term growth by leading talent acquisition, employee engagement, and employee career development activities. Makes recommendations to senior management on Human Resources issues. The goal is to ensure that all HR needs of the company are being met and are aligned with all business objectives.


    • Partner with EVP of People Supply, in the development of the company plans and programs with regard to their impact on staff, incorporating the vision, values, culture and strategic direction of the organization.
    • Establish and implement HR department goals, objectives, policies and priorities for continuous improvement in efficiency of the department and services performed.
    • Oversee and direct the development and administration of the Human Resources Department annual budget.
    • Develop staffing strategies in coordination with department heads and hiring managers.
    • Manage the performance appraisal process, providing constructive guidance and advising senior management on issues of consistency and equity in the process and decision-making.
    • Work with employees to develop career paths and career development opportunities. Provide coaching to employees at all levels.
    • Develop and establish programs to enhance employee retention and connection with supervisors, including but not limited to employee surveys.
    • Lead salary planning and compensation administration; provide guidance to supervisors and managers regarding Cummings’s pay-for-performance philosophy. Review submissions by management and identify pay inequities and anomalies for resolution.
    • Engage regularly with staff (office, field, administrative, and financial), providing feedback to senior management for pro-active intervention and resolution of people-related concerns.
    • Partner with senior management to develop, manage, and communicate, plans and procedures to remain current and in compliance with various Human Resources policies and procedures, employment laws, standards and regulations.
    • Conduct investigations on matters such as allegations of harassment or discrimination. Serve as liaison with outside counsel on employment-related matters.
    • Advises and approves recommendations on employment decisions, including hiring, disciplinary, and termination decisions, insuring adherence to company policy and compliance with relevant federal and state laws and regulations.

    • Stay abreast of innovations in the field of human resource management.
    • Analyzes the effectiveness of our Human Resources procedures and tools.
    • Responsible for the employee handbook that reflects the current policies, procedures and programs.
    • Determines, recommends and implements employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale.
    • Analyzes annual employee survey to identify opportunities to improve employee engagement.
    • Develops and oversees employee relations programs such as wellness and internal events, and acts as a partner in driving values and culture.
    • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources function and implements policies and procedures necessary for the firm to be in compliance with those requirements.
    • Monitors exposure of the company. Approves all information submitted. Acts as primary contact with labor counsel and outside government agencies.
    • Protects interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.
    • Acts as liaison between company and legal counsel related to employment law.
    • Manages employee issues through the company’s complaint procedure.
    • Crafts talent acquisition strategies to build strong pipelines for hiring needs.
    • Establishes and manages standard recruiting and placement practices and procedures.
    • Ensures our hiring, onboarding and management procedures are effective.
    • Directs a process of talent development that addresses succession planning throughout the company. Coordinates activities across divisions and practices.
    • Establishes wage and salary structure, pay policies, performance appraisal programs, employee benefit programs and services and wellness programs. Monitors for effectiveness and cost containments.
    • Establishes in-house management training programs that address company needs across divisions (e.g., New Employee Orientation, Leadership, Performance Appraisal, and Interviewing).
    • Manages health insurance brokers and insurance carriers. Reviews and recommends changes to these carriers to senior management.
    • Creates a structure to provide effective support for the organization.
    • Acts as a partner to corporate and technical groups throughout the company.
    • Directs the preparation and maintenance of such reports as are necessary to carry out functions of department. Prepares periodic reports to top management, as necessary or requested.


    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resource Management. Specialized training in organizational planning, compensation, and preventive labor relations.
    • Generalist background with broad knowledge of employment, compensation, organizational planning, recruiting, employee relations, and training and development. Hands-on experience with HR software (e.g. HRIS, ADP, ATS, LMS)
    • Ability to accurately perform a variety of both routine and unexpected/challenging tasks in a fast-paced environment; experience dealing with remote employees in multiple disciplines and job functions
    • Experience in developing and implementing a recruiting program for technical (STEM) staff with a high success rate.
    • Excellent leadership abilities with communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Good understanding of current labor legislation.
    • From eight (8) to ten (10) years' experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Human Resources.
