  • Overview

    Cummings Electrical is looking for a Manufacturing Manager for a new facility; approximately 100k square feet. Our operations include material handling, steel fabrication, light electrical manufacturing, final assembly, and test. The position is responsible for leading our fabrication and assembly functions to achieve the desired safety, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory performance.

    The role is responsible for managing the facility and up to 100 employees with multiple supervisors. The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible to lead teams and oversee the manufacturing of goods, and to ensure production meets demand and quality standards.

    Responsibilities

    • Safety - The most important responsibility of this role is ensuring employee safety
    • Front end of the business planning and execution
    • Assess and evaluate equipment layout and design for near and long term strategies
    • Create a lean and efficient organization
    • Demonstrate strong management skills
    • Support multiple construction projects
    • Enforce health and safety precautions
    • Ensure that equipment is used properly and preventative maintenance is performed
    • Ensure goods are produced on time for distribution in a profitable manner
    • Forecast manpower, equipment, and raw materials needed to cover production demand
    • Ensure that production is monitored
    • Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption
    • Ensure that workflow is organized to increase efficiency and meet deadlines
    • Oversee scheduling of shifts according to production needs
    • Ensure output meets quality standards
    • Supervise and evaluate performance of staff
    • Provide overall direction for facility and team, focusing on productivity, and resolving operational decisions
    • Facilitate client tours
    • Establish clear goals and implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives.
    • Accountable for managing, meeting, and reporting Key Performance Indicators (metrics) on production operations and developing continuous improvement plans accordingly
    • Responsible for realization of short term budget targets and budget forecasting

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree, or minimum 5+ years’ experience in comparable role
    • Positive attitude and capable of leading a great team
    • Deep knowledge of manufacturing management
    • Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations
    • Knowledge of performance evaluation
    • Experience in reporting on key manufacturing metrics
    • Strong computer skills and adept at learning new software
    • Proficient with MS Office Products and Dropbox
    • Outstanding communication ability
    • Excellent organizational and strong leaderships skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
    • Well-versed in production procedures and ways to optimize them
    • Organized and results-driven with great problem-solving skills

    Preferred Knowledge/Experience

    • Continuous improvement experience (Lean Manufacturing Methods, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, Process Mapping, Standard Works, etc.)
    • Knowledge of steel fabrication and general welding processes and equipment
    • Shop drawing interpretation
    • Basic and power tool experience

    Physical Demands

    • Regular use of phone and email for communication is essential. Hearing and vision correctable to within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents.
    • The ability to remain in a stationary position, frequently sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arm’s length, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch, as well as the ability to move about the manufacturing facility, wear eye, ear, and other protection (PPE) are required.
    • No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 35 lbs. of may be required. Good manual dexterity needed to use common office equipment. In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.
    • Are often exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.

    Working Environment - Must be able to work in a controlled environment

    • The job is primarily performed in the manufacturing facility; not all indoor locations will be temperature-controlled
    • Will be working in an area that requires protective equipment to be worn
