    Performing under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, this position will be designated to a specific projects and works closely with Estimating and Project Management, as well as cross-functional teams to perform the following responsibilities: Provide accurate budgets in a timely fashion, obtain competitive quotes, purchase materials and/or services, rent equipment, and expedite and coordinate delivery of materials and equipment.

    • Produce quotation RFQ (Request for Quotation) and negotiate prices with suppliers
    • Submit timely and accurate quotations to support the bid process as required
    • Continuously develops strong rapport with vendors that support Cummings Electrical
    • Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services for approved projects, equipment, tools, parts and supplies
    • Participates in project kick-off meetings to exert a shaping influence at an early stage and to optimize internal workflows and processes
    • Consults with both project manager’s request and vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
    • Keeps information accessible by filing documents in an organized manner
    • Implements cost saving ideas
    • Ensure the company’s documented purchasing processes are adhered to
    • Issue and manage purchase orders for approved requisitions and contracts, supporting a variety of departments
    • Prepares purchase orders using established purchasing procedures
    • Partner with Accounts Payable in setting up new vendors and resolving invoicing issues as they pertain to purchasing
    • Effectively communicate with all stakeholders
    • Ensure accuracy of costs and accounting codes through strong attention to detail
    • Works with customers to establish clear bill of materials with appropriate specifications for materials to be purchased
    • Consistently demonstrates exceptional customer service skills internally and externally
    • Expedites supplier shipments, deliveries, and/or pickups as appropriate
    • Applies blanket pricing, obtains quotes, and/or negotiates pricing to purchase materials (or make recommendations)
    • Establishes and maintains purchase tracking database and required information to ensure quality customer service
    • Responsible for managing suppliers and their performance


    • College degree or equivalent industry experience. High School diploma or GED required; or
    • 5 years of purchasing/buying experience in the electrical industry
    • Strong communications and organizational skills.
    • Must be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
    • Basic knowledge of electrical construction trade is required
    • Knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices
    • Thorough knowledge of electrical equipment, materials, suppliers, catalogues and prices, etc.
