    This position is an integral part of the electrical construction process and is responsible for coordinating construction activities related to electrical, instrumentation and controls. The Safety & Health Manager will be Responsible for monitoring, inspecting and documenting, and training construction personnel as it relates to safety and quality of work performed, on an assigned project. Qualified candidate will support the project team in developing and sustaining an Incident and Injury Free Culture (IIFC). This position will report to the Project Safety Manager.

    Responsibilities

    General Essential Functions (The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Additional responsibilities may also be assigned)

    • Support Superintendents in development of Job Hazard Analysis, PROP Plans, MOP’s, and all other project safety related documents
    • Communicate with Project Manager or Superintendent regarding concerns about the construction progress
    • Perform site inspections for quality control and document using predictive Solutions
    • Coordinate permitting and make ready process
    • Conducts Job Hazard Analysis and Incident Investigations
    • Advises personnel regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure zero injuries and regulatory compliance
    • Conducts routine and follow-up safety and hazard inspections of company work sites
    • Responds to emergency situations and participates in incident investigations
    • Monitors the implementation of all safety related corrective actions and program enhancements
    • Evaluate effectiveness of safety programs through daily field walks. Regulatory compliance and audit oversight
    • Provide coaching and mentoring for employees exhibiting unsafe behaviors, and provide recognition for employees exhibiting safe behaviors
    • Provide regular feedback and makes recommendations to Project Team on safety areas for improvement, correcting unsafe conditions and recognition, and provides necessary safety training
    • Coordinate construction efforts to insure continuity with other contractors and avoid any disruption of operations
    • Perform new hire training, 60 – day orientations, pre project orientations and all other safety related training

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience: Must meet one of the following education and experience requirements

    • A) BS Occupational Safety & Health required with a combination of either:
      • 12-15 years relevant construction experience
      • or Certified Safety Professional (as recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals) and at least two 2 years of relevant construction experience.
    • B) Completion of OSHA 500 Basic Instructor Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry, and must have performed full-time safety responsibilities for at least 10 years in the relevant construction industry.

    Training

    • OSHA 10 Hour
    • First Aid/CPR Certification
    • CEI Hot Work Classes 1 & 2 (Minimum)
    • CEI 30 Hour Class (Competent person class for safety tops & presenting safety meetings)
    • Ability to work independently
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong computer skills and adept at learning new software

    Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

    • 70% Field Work and 30% Office/ Classroom Training
    • Working conditions: Normal office environment (on-site and off-site locations), outside work, extreme temperatures, noisy conditions, shift work, flexible hours and schedules, not afraid of heights, standing long periods of time, extreme temperature conditions
    • Able to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment, and/or excessive noise
    • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus
    • Ability to work long hours and variable schedules on occasion, including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends.
    • Ability to exercise independent judgment within the limits of the position
    • This position is also expected to perform other common operations duties such as lifting, bending, operating small tools, cleaning and maintaining equipment
