Cummings Electrical, a leading provider of electrical contracting services in DFW, is growing and looking for talented individuals in the industry to join our team. This is a perfect opportunity for a highly-motivated, hands-on individual, to work on a project team with other electrical engineers engaged in the planning, design, upgrade, and modification of large electrical projects. 

 

Most of our work is in the DFW area; therefore very limited travel required beyond DFW area.

 

EIT candidates will be given the opportunity to gain the experience necessary to apply for PE exam.  Engineering department is managed by a Professional Engineer and this company has other PEs on staff.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Electrical Design using AutoCAD, including power distribution, lighting and low voltage systems 
  • Engineering Calculations using Excel, SKM, and ETAP
  • Constructibility, functionality, and best value design review of Engineering Plans
  • Engineering Studies using SKM: Overcurrent Coordination, Arc Flash, Short-Circuit, and Voltage Drop
  • Cable Pull Tension Calculations using ETAP
  • Engineering Support for project teams on all Cummings Electrical projects
  • Site investigations to provide Engineering recommendations
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Help train young engineers in design and construction problem solving
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Basic Job Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • 5+ years of engineering experience working with a concentration in commercial and industrial projects; candidates with 3+ years experience will be considered
  • EIT required; PE is a desired
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job 
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner 
  • Able to identify, analyze and solve problems 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Strong computer software skills including MS Office (particularly Excel) 
  • Experience with SKM is a plus
  • Design experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit required
  • Design, Coordination and Arc Flash Studies

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electrical power fundamentals 
  • Knowledge of single and three phase power systems 
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of SKM
  • Consulting Engineering Experience
