Overview

The Warehouse Truck Driver, is responsible for delivering materials, prefab and tools, safely, efficiently and professionally to designated job sites and communicating and coordinating assigned activities with Shipping Coordinator. This position requires a current CDL, a satisfactory DOT physical examination certification without limitations and a satisfactory driver’s record.

Responsibilities

GENERAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Additional responsibilities may also be assigned.)

  • Promote a safe work environment through personal actions. Identify any safety concerns, as well as cost saving opportunities
  • Walk or stand for most of the shift
  • Required to wear protective gear and proper work boots
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the warehouse, truck, truck loading and unloading area
  • Able to read maps/directions in order to plan routes and determine the most efficient manner to meet delivery schedules
  • Fuel vehicle as needed and make arrangements for all maintenance
  • Verify or count materials to confirm quantities and make sure items are correct
  • Able to inspect that load is properly secured for travel, loads and unloads delivery truck for the purpose of delivering and or receiving materials for transport
  • Must be able to operate sit down forklift equipment
  • Maintains records, activity logs, and reliable resource information. Maintain delivery vehicles, for the purpose of ensuring safe operation of vehicle.
  • Maintain shipping and receiving logs, make sure that incoming and outgoing material are in good condition and verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping documents 
  • Follow all traffic laws including local, state and federal DOT regulations
  • Maintain all DOT vehicle logs as required by law as well as company documents
  • Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
  • Perform daily pre and post trip equipment inspections
  • Deliver product to assigned locations according to the daily schedule
  • Report any delivery discrepancies, report defects, accidents or violations to operations team immediately upon discovery
  • Establish and maintain professional and effective working relations with other personnel
  • Understand the value of teamwork and communication necessary to operate onsite functions
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, break periods etc) as well as with company policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned and works overtime as needed

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant driving experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must have a valid, state-issued Class A drivers’ license with no restrictions
  • A serious moving violation conviction or convictions associated with the use of a motor vehicle within the past year is prohibited
  • Must have a record of safe and competent driving as demonstrated on a state Motor Vehicle Record
    • May not have 3 or more moving violations within last 3 years
    • Must not have any pending or convictions for major violations within 3 years, such as DWI, DUI or OUI, reckless driving, drugs, leaving the scene of an accident, excessive moving violation or accidents
  • Must pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and background check
    • A current and satisfactory DOT physical examination certification (DOT health card) is required, must be able to recertify health card and meet all DOT requirements, including random drug testing.
    • No DOT recordable accidents within the last 3 years.
  • Must be eligible to legally work in the United States
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Must be able to reference, read and understand how to use Safety Data Sheets (SDS) information.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization to bring about successful completion of project
  • Must demonstrate ability of being a good team player
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize executing tasks

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to work in extreme conditions and a drug free environment
  • Ability to work long hours and variable schedules on occasion, including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends, and occasionally work overtime as needed
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within the limits of the position.
  • Required to perform other common operation duties such as: sitting for long periods of time, hear, talk, use close vision, use distance vision, stand, kneel or crouch, use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, type and manipulate controls, repeatedly get up and down from a vehicle, and reaching, lifting or bending
  • Required to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, push and pull up to 100 pounds
  • Requires ability to travel out of town/area
  • Requires the ability to relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions: must partner with co-workers without exhibiting behavioral extremes
  • Requires the performance of work activities including reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others: and respond appropriately to constructive feedback from supervisor
